The Student Catholic Action of the Philippines (SCAP) convened its annual face-to-face National Coordinating Council (NCC) Formation last February 6-9, 2025, at the Bahay-SCAn Formation Center in Tagaytay City. This intensive program focused on the holistic development of new student leaders, empowering them to become effective agents of change for both the Church and the nation.
Together with the Chair and Vice Chair of the NCC, three student representatives and four cluster coordinators and an animator participated in an enriching three-day event featuring four distinct sessions: Growing in Faith, Facilitative Leadership and Effective Communication, Prayer, and Project Management.
A hybrid approach was used, with the first two speakers utilizing an online platform to conduct the formation for the participants. This blended format facilitated a dynamic exchange of knowledge and expertise, preparing them to embody Christ-like servant leadership.
The SEE-JUDGE-ACT methodology served as a guiding principle throughout the formation, providing a structured framework for the NCC members' growth journey. This approach empowered them with the knowledge and skills necessary to reignite the importance of faith, open communication, connection, and camaraderie within their leadership roles.
A few of the participants shared some of their takeaways and the commitments they want to embrace after the formation and planning sessions:
“Knowing our core self deepens our faith and strengthens our sense of purpose. With a steadfast faith, we are empowered to fulfill our mission: to serve others with compassion. Guided by faith, I will strive to serve others, uplift those in need, and fulfill my mission with passion.”
- Angelo Batac, Visayas Cluster Coordinator
“My journey through various formations and leadership training has been extensive, but the SCA's NCC Formation stands apart. It wasn't simply about honing my servant leadership skills; it was a profoundly spiritual experience that resonated deep within. The impactful sessions became a journey back to my childhood, a time of searching for direction.
A particularly valuable takeaway was reflecting on that younger self and realizing just how much I've grown, how far I've come, and how much of that is thanks to the SCA movement. This formation was a powerful blend of personal growth, a deep sense of interconnectedness with others, and a significant strengthening of my faith. It reinforced my desire to serve as Christ served, answering His call to follow Him.
Above all, this experience solidified my commitment to go forth, to flourish, and to bear fruit in our shared plans, bringing positive change for our common purpose.”
- Regine Palomata, Visayas Cluster College Representative
"Effective planning, collaboration, and communication are essential for successful leadership. These elements enable us to drive impactful activities and achieve our goals. Let us continue working together, leveraging our collective strengths and expertise to execute our plans, foster open communication, and advance our organization's mission."
- Cristobal Gutierrez III, Central Luzon Cluster College Representative
"The success of the NCC Formation depends on open communication, a shared vision, and collective action to address national concerns effectively. I commit to actively engaging in meaningful discussions and advocating for policies that promote inclusivity, sustainability, and progress for the common good.”
- Kishian Aira Abeleda, NCR Cluster College Representative
“Our faith compels us to do good, as a response to God's revelation. I commit myself to serving others with selflessness and passion.”
- Kenneth Christian Namocatcat, NCC Chairperson
The National Coordinating Council (NCC) Formation has equipped these emerging leaders with the tools and inspiration to make a meaningful impact within their units, communities, and beyond—embodying the values of faith, service, and leadership.
